Workstage Patterson Building Wins 2004 AIA Honor Award
The Workstage Patterson Building (referred to as Steelcase Project MAC) has received the distinguished 2004 AIA Honor Award, an award given to only 16 buildings throughout the world. The Patterson Building was built as the prototype for Workstage. It serves as the headquarters for the Workstage team and a swing-space for Steelcase Inc.
"This project shows that it is possible to design a beautiful and elegant speculative office building on a modest budget," the jury concluded. "As a modular and prototypical building, it is designed to be repeated, adapted, or expanded on other sites."

Workstage/Integrated Architecture Team Wins Two Local AIA Honor Awards for MAREC
The Grand Valley State University's Michigan Alternative & Renewable Energy Center (MAREC) received two (2) AIA Awards for the Grand Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The design build team of Workstage and Integrated Architecture won the Building Award and the Sustainable Design Award.
The Building Award is given to projects that "demonstrate design resolution that shows skill and sensitivity in resolution of formal, functional and technical requirements, which advances the contemporary understanding of design by proposing new approaches to the development of architectural form." The Sustainable Design Award is given to projects that "address specific sustainable strategies in both graphic and written form, in an effort to mesh with the current national green building rating system." Of the six building awards given, MAREC was the only project to win two. Integrated Architecture also received the Firm Achievement Award.
The MAREC was completed in November of 2003 and is expected to receive the Gold LEED rating for green sustainable buildings.
