A Diamond in the Sky - Turnstone Furniture Turns 10

Many things stand out for this small company that marks its ten-year anniversary this fall – oh, so many, many things stand out.

Turnstone has won over 14 product design awards in the past 5 years. The Kick System is the number one Steelcase Inc. system sold to new customers. The Jenny Chair is the number one selling lounge chair in the Steelcase portfolio. Let’s B, Turnstone’s newest ergonomic chair, recently won a Bronze Award at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada. The Uno chair, designed by sculptor Charles Perry, has sold over 7000 units to a single client since it’s launch 5 years ago. Turnstone also prides themselves in responding to the market, listening to their customers, and developing products in six to twelve months. The hard work is paying off as Turnstone records another year of record growth.

Turnstone is built around the idea of simple, affordable, well designed office furniture. Furniture that has a pinch of pizzazz – a spin on design that makes it classically fresh. Classically fresh can also be used to describe the inherent feeling that comes over you when you meet the Turnstone group. For the last decade, they have sought to bring simplicity to the world and they continue to put the pedal to the metal on the road of good value. Recently they purchased a used 1977 Airstream RV, cleaned it up, loaded in samples of their best selling products and started a road trip to meet dealers and clients face-to-face thoughout the Midwest. At each stop, the sales team rolls out the awning and sets up BBQ grills – right there in the parking lot, answering questions and showcasing products between brats and hamburgers.

In ten years, Turnstone Furniture has brought to the market a fresh look in products, a fresh feeling of community in their workplace, and a fresh insight into the world of office furniture. Located in the apex of a pyramid-shaped building, Turnstone Furniture is the beloved jewel in the Steelcase family – a diamond in the sky.
