Do you ever scribble or doodle? Grab a pen and sketch out an idea? It’s amazing how helpful putting pen to paper can be when trying to noodle out a new idea or thought.
This month the 360 e-zine is pleased to welcome a new writer – Don Moyer, from Agnew Moyer Smith, a communication and design firm based in Pittsburgh, PA. Don’s article, “Napkin Sketches 101” provides a unique perspective into the topic of making work visible. Along with nine memorable tips (realize ugly is beautiful, master the basics, break some rules etc.), he has also included a handy cheat sheet that will help you master your sketching skills.
This issue also has two wonderful articles by writer Dana Dubbs. The first piece details a recently opened new convention center located in Grand Rapids, MI. The De Vos Place features a high-powered interior that provides enormous technological capabilities blended with furnishings to facilitate learning, socializing and mobile work. Read all about this incredible building in the 360 article, “DeVos Place: Looks Can Be Deceiving.”
Dana’s second article has a healthcare focus and describes a “place where patients are nurtured and families encouraged to be part of their loved one’s care.” This article on the Hannibal Regional Center in Hannibal, Missouri (designed by St. Louis firm The Lawrence Group) is titled, “Prescription Strength”. According to the senior interior designer of the project, “the CEO of the hospital wanted the facility to represent life and hope.” After reading this article, I’m sure you will agree that the project met and exceeded this objective!
